PKU Corporate Awards Video Series
Director • Director of Photography • Editor • Colorist
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Office of Public Affairs was tasked with creating video content for the agency’s annual awards program — an initiative traditionally focused on internal recognition and event presentation.
As the creative lead on the project, I believed there was an opportunity to create something with greater long-term value and emotional impact. Rather than producing standard event-driven award videos with a limited shelf life, I proposed a more documentary-focused approach centered on the people behind the work — specifically highlighting SEC employees making meaningful contributions within their local communities.
The concept evolved into a series of cinematic profile stories that showcased employees not only as professionals within the agency, but as individuals deeply engaged in volunteerism, outreach, mentorship, and public service outside the workplace. The goal was to create evergreen storytelling content that could continue to inspire audiences and represent the agency’s culture long after the awards event concluded.
To bring these stories to life, we traveled to SEC regional offices across the country, capturing authentic interviews and observational documentary footage that highlighted both the personal and professional impact of the featured employees. I directed the creative vision for the series while also serving as director of photography, editor, and colorist, crafting a cinematic visual style designed to elevate internal communications into emotionally resonant storytelling.
The series proved highly successful within the agency. The Office of Public Affairs received an internal award recognizing the project’s impact and creative execution, and the work was personally acknowledged by the Chair of the SEC for its contribution to showcasing the agency’s people and values.
